Why Learn a new Language?
Why learn a language? well it is easier to deal with the local people if you speak even a little of their language. Don’t assume everyone, everywhere you go will speak English. Numbers, greetings, directions and simple questions are not that difficult to learn and are very useful. Locals will appreciate your efforts and in fact, you may notice will go out of their way to help you knowing that you are trying hard to communicate.
Give some serious thought to learning a new language before you plan your next overseas trip. At the very least try to learn some greetings, introductions and common destination phrases such as: Hello, how are you? my name is, where is the post office, pharmacy, cafe or train station.
If you consider what you will be doing while you are on holiday and the things you may need to ask for, why not start with those? Learning a foreign language just takes a little practice, and the more you use your new skills the better you will become.
