People who are looking to retain their youthful looks normally think about having painful surgery, yet there are a number of non-surgical face lift therapies that can be just as effective and will usually cost a lot less with little or no recovery time involved. For those who wish to avoid chemicals and injections, yet still want a youthful looking face, there is a method for a natural face lift.

A surgical face lift costs, on average, 3,000/$6000 for just the procedure, there are usually more ancillary costs to be taken into account as well. You will need a fairly long time to recover from the operation and, as with any surgical procedure, there are risks involved. This is why many people explore the non-surgical face lifting route first. Although the non-surgical face lift is normally less invasive than surgery, they usually do not last as long, except for facial exercises which will last as long as you keep doing them. However, for those who have minor skin blemishes, the non-surgical route can also help to remove or at least, modify any imperfections, depending on the procedure that is chosen. The non-surgical face lift is available in a variety of very different methods, some more invasive than others. Those require injections are not risk free and the long term effects have yet to be seen. The costs involved will depend on the method chosen and how much needs to be done.

Botox is the one everybody has heard of and it has been chosen by many millions of men and women worldwide. It is injected into certain muscles which then relax or get paralysed and so smooth out any lines in the skin. Because the muscles are paralysed, they cannot move and so cannot produce wrinkles. It has been cleared for cosmetic use in 2002 so any long term effects are not known. Injections cost around 100/$200 per shot so the total cost will depend on how many you want or require. It is quick and effective, the initial swelling normally goes down after an hour or so. The effects can last anywhere from three to six months and sometimes longer, depending on the individual. Anybody taking anti- biotics should wait until they have finished the course before using this procedure.

Almost as popular is the Collagen injections which are also know as fillers. Collagen is a natural part of the skin but there are other fillers available, some natural some synthetic. Your cosmetic surgeon will help you pick the one that most suits your needs. This is injected under the skin which then smoothes out your wrinkles. Some have it injected into their lips for that full pouting look. Although there will be some initial redness and puffiness, it will soon subside, leaving a smooth young looking skin. The costs will depend on the type of product you use and the number of injections required. Over time, the fillers will get absorbed back into the body so you will have to repeat the procedure at least every six months.

The last of the major non-surgical lifting techniques is one that removes layers of skin. There are several different methods, ’sand blasting’ with diamond powder, called microdermabrasion, burning with laser light, and applying a chemical peel. These all work well in removing the first few layers that will contain a lot of the lines on the face, making the skin younger and glowing with health. These treatments, which cost from 75/$150 to over 1000/$2000, can last a year or more. For those with deeper lines and wrinkles, there is dermabrasion, some may argue that this is in fact a surgical procedure as a general anaesthetic is involved and there can be a lengthy recovery time. This removes the layers of skin to a lot deeper level so the effect is longer lasting.

For those people who do not wish to use the above, there are a great many face lifting creams on the market. Each has a special list of ingredients that offer to reduce wrinkles and tighten the skin. The only way to find out which works for you is to experiment until you find the one that works well for your type of skin. It is also worth considering to use one of these products after having any other type of lifting as they may well prolong the effects of your treatment.

The easiest, cheapest and possibly the most longer lasting of the non-surgical face lifts are facial exercises. This method is often dismissed as being too time consuming, yet after the initial intense period, it only takes a few minutes a day and can usually be incorporated into your moisturising regime. If you have already had a face lift, it will prolong the life of it and if you are thinking about getting a face lift, doing facial exercises before hand can improve the final results. Not every type of facial exercise is appropriate, choose the isometric type and you won’t go far wrong, after all it is the only natural face lift there is.

Finally, if you do wish to have use some of the non-surgical face lifts that use injections or chemicals, always talk it over with your doctor first. When looking for a cosmetic surgery, always choose one that is a member of an association that is acknowledged by the local authority or medical profession. That way you will have some protection in the unlikely event of things going wrong. The personal recommendation is valuable as at least you know somebody who has been there, had the treatment and is a satisfied customer.
