How do you get rid of stretch marks? They’re caused by skin stretching to the extent of its ‘elasticity.’ Stretch marks are a nuisance, an eyesore and something bodybuilders, people who’ve gained a lot of weight fast and new mothers wish they’d never had the misfortune to come across.

Getting rid of stretch marks is a goal that can be accomplished, but it will take an investment of time and diligence. The only exception to this rule are those whose finances can support procedures like microdermabrasion or chemical peels, but these aren’t procedures to be undertaken lightly.

Last time I looked, there were way too many people online trying to sell me a miracle cure for getting rid of my stretch marks. Every one claims to have proof and pictures of their successes, and if you’re not informed about what to look for, it’s a dangerous time to try and get rid of your stretch marks. For instance, a lot of companies will tell you their product fades stretch marks if you wait long enough…problem is, your body does that naturally! What you want is a product that helps speed up your body’s natural healing properties, not something to just cover up the scars.

Prevention is a great way for getting rid of stretch marks before they even occur. If you can avoid fast weight gain - this applies to bodybuilder’s as well as those who overeat then this means you’re less likely to get stretch marks. Prevention techniques work the same way as regenerative methods, helping the skin become more supple can only make for a healthier you.

The application of creams can indeed increase the elasticity of the skin, thus allowing it to stretch further. Notice I said further up they might not work as a corrective method on their own? Well that’s sometimes true, but they can increase the ‘bendiness’ of your skin and help you prevent further, or worse stretch marks.

Vitamin A, E and C, Jojoba oil, castor oil and many more like Cocoa butter and Shea butter are renowned for their excellent properties on the hunt to reducing the appearance of stretch marks too! Importantly though, what you eat can really determine how your stretch marks appear; drinking a lot of water helps more than anything except vitamin intake. Drinking more water means faster skin cell regeneration.

The most popular item out of the ones I spouted off is undoubtedly Vitamin E cream. Why? Simply because of its ability to make the skin more elastic. The big guns (aka stretch mark creams) even use Vitamin E in a lot of their creams, because they know it works. So what should you use? That choice I leave to you, because only you know how much money you have and how long you can live with those little demons we call stretch marks. Whatever your choice, take the time to research your potential solution before you invest any time or money into it.
