The trade show industries have used sexy models to sell their products for the past few years. No shock here, because sex sells. We see sex ads all around us in our everyday lives; we see it on TV, billboards, buses and lately drive around ads. Do this method work for trade show exhibitors.

Trade show exhibitors use scandalously dressed model in their booth to draw attention to their product. You usually see this at the auto shows as well as the SEMA show. People tend to associate hot cars with hot babe or so call ?booth babe?. Usually many attendee that attend there shows are males. They tend to be drawn to the cars and mostly the booth babes.

These “booth babes” can certainly be trained to sell or move your product. They should be educated on the product they are trying to promote. If you hire a “booth babe” (with due respect I certainly do not like the term “booth babe” so for this article I will refer to them as booth models) and wish to use them correctly have then stand by your product, may it be a beautiful sports cars. Your product line is rims; well spend the time to educate your booth model about the product.

Let’s face the fact just having a pretty model by your car or product will not sell that product. Most people at these shows will only step up to the model just have their picture taken with her or him. Your model should be taught something about the product and not be used only as a trophy piece. Your company as well as the model will be much more respected by the potential buyer.

So, Let get back to the question on hand, does sex sell at trade show, overall, yes but it should be done with class and savvy which will enhance your sales and profit. Here is to your success

This giraffe head hung over the back of the booth and stood full size. The theme we chose was “head and shoulders above the competition”. Talk throughout the convention hall was about this giraffe and how unique it made the booth. The leads poured in and in return sales.

My advice is for exhibitors to stay away from the traditional “cookie cutter” designs. Your company image should be unique as should your booth design. Exhibiting at trade shows in these bad economic times is a major issue for the trade show industry. Many exhibitors are deciding not to attend various trade shows and are cutting back on the size of their booth. Some seasoned exhibitors are now visiting the shows only as show attendees and not as trade show exhibitors. Why? The costs that accompany these events are high other innovative exhibitors rent suites and invite their clients to their suites to demo new products etc.

In attempting to address these issues I would say that despite innovative measures to be a part of the tradeshow marketing process in these economic times, pulling out of the show is not the answer Here are some of the draw backs in not attending the shows that an exhibitor normally attends: a) exhibitor’s seniority is lost putting you at a disadvantage in placement for the next show when you decide to re-enter that particular show b) prime locations that were usually allotted to you as an exhibitor is now given to other regular exhibitors, thus only allowing some off-the-beat traffic location to you. Another ill-advised alternative is to reduce your usual booth and show site. An example, say, your company usually attend a show using a 20×20 or 20×30 and you now are using a 10×10. Reason? Your company’s image has a tendency to be diminished giving the impression to both clients and competitors that your business is not doing well. Would you depend on this company be around in the future?

I have seen so much of this in the last few months and the best solution for this is keep on going to the show, keep your booth space, try to reduce your labor and drayage cost. These items will help a great deal on your budget but it will not affect the image of your company. Renting a custom trade show booth instead of purchasing one is your next step. Yes I did say Custom. No sign will be displayed saying that your booth is a rented booth. Try and get a full turnkey package which will also help with your budget. Multi rental programs can also be arranged when an exhibitor has more than one trade show in different cities.
