Is your Restaurant Appealing to Those with Children?

This fact can determine if their parents will be dropping in or not when the entire family is going out to eat. Keeping children happy at your restaurant will help ensure even though people in there without children are going to be happy as well. It can be hard to relax and enjoy a meal when children are fussing.
If you don’t already offer booths and tables in your business you need to consider doing so. Not everyone feels comfortable sitting in a booth or there are large groups and tables are nice. Many families do like to seat in booths though. It makes it easier to keep children safe and to help them with their food.
Make sure you have an adequate supply of high chairs too. It can be difficult for an adult to eat when they have to hold a small child and feed them too. All high chairs should have safety straps that can be adjusted to secure the children that are placed in them. Either offer those that have their own tops or make sure they are the right height to slide under the table where everyone else is eating.
It can be a while before the food is ready in certain restaurants. You may wish to offer something small for the children. This can be in the form of something like crackers. You should check with the parents first though as they may not want their children to have anything before their meal arrives. If you already offer something such as chips and salsa or breadsticks though that is adequate.
Many children can be easily entertained by games on the table. There are many different ones you can offer them. Games with the pegs where you have to jump each one and try to get down to as few as possible are great. You can offer a set of links too that they can connect and build things with.
You can also offer coloring sheets with crayons. These are really fun for children and they often look forward to getting them. There are many that are part of the place mat. Some have games on them too such as matching and simple mazes to get to the end of. Parents can help their children to complete them if they aren’t able to do it on their own.
Many parents will choose to bring along some toys or games that they know will entertain their children. This is a nice gesture on their part as well. Most parents don’t expect the restaurant to take care of it all of them. The definitely do encourage the help though. You will find this can help you to retain visits from certain families on a regular basis.
Keeping children happy in a restaurant isn’t that difficult. It does help if you are geared towards doing what you can to make it happen though. Do your best to offer an atmosphere that is family oriented. As a parent, it can be very uncomfortable to eat in a place where you feel your children really aren’t welcome.
