Different Types of Baby Monitors and How to Compare Them
June 20, 2008 – 2:42 amOne question is how to pick a good baby monitor. One nice thing about a baby monitor is that it saves you time while letting you know that your baby is safe.
The monitor that I prefer is the audio monitor because we can hear our baby, virtually any noise, and that will alert us. It comes in both an analog and a digital version, and I prefer analog because it is the lowest cost.
On the other hand, the digital model may cost a little more but it provides more privacy and usually has a wider range of reception than analog. Another advantage is that the digital models do not have as much static and they give a clearer sound quality so you can hear your baby better.
The advantage of the video baby monitor is that you can both see and hear your baby. This portable device will send a picture to a LCD screen and also provides night vision on some models.
Sensory monitors detect the baby’s slightest movements even during sleep. It fits under the mattress of the baby and alarms you when the baby stops moving or is absolutely still for 20 seconds. Some models available also come with audio monitors installed.
In chosing a baby monitor, you may want to spend whatever it takes, since this is your child’s safety. In that case both a video and sensory monitor would be best.
If you are going to be a great distance from your baby, make sure you purchase a baby monitor that is high quality and has the range to transmit the signal from the baby monitor.
You will be watching out for the safety of your baby when you use a baby monitor. Be careful to compare baby monitors and chose the one that best fits your budget whether it is an audio, video, or sensory baby monitor. I prefer to buy brand names that you can trust.
