One of the most common ways for a woman to discover if they are pregnant is the pregnancy tests known as HPTs. These are a test that may be taken at home. Time was when women had to go to a doctor’s office and have a blood test to find out if they were pregnant or not. A blood test is still used but not as often as the HPT. A woman who is being cared for by a fertility specialist will often be warned not to take an HPT. She will be told to wait for a blood test result that will be performed at the appropriate time. How many of these women actually wait until that day? Most of them will probably tell you that they could not wait and cheated. That they took an HPT just because they couldn’t wait. Or so that they would be emotionally prepared for the blood test results.

This home pregnancy test is fairly inexpensive. It also very easy to take and can be done in the privacy of your home. No one else will know the result until you are ready to share with them, not even your doctor’s office.

There are many HPTs on the market today. There are many popular brands such as the Early-Pregnancy-Tests, the Aim Stick Dipstick, the Clearblue Easy, One Step Be Sure, E.P.T., Early Pregnancy Test, and then there are those that are brands marketed by drugstores like the Rite-Aid brand, and the CVS brand.

Generally the soonest you can test with these brands of HPTs will depend upon how sensitive the particular test is. The screen needs to happen before hCG is created and detectible in the urine. This normally happens somewhere between 6 and 12 days after the egg was discharged from the ovary. To make sure that you do not to waste your money buying tests that are used too early to show results, it is suggested that you try to wait until they are at least 12 days after ovulation. If the test can be put off until the first day of your anticipated period, there is a 90% chance of receiving a correct HPT test result. By waiting until a week past that first expected day of her period, the accuracy rate shoots up to 97%.

It is best to test with urine collected first thing in the morning because this urine has the highest concentration of the hCG hormone. The higher the concentration the darker the test line and easier it is to see the result and know your answer. If you miss that first morning urine, don’t fret if you wait approximately 4 to 5 hours (holding your urine) and then use this urine to test, there should be a high enough concentration of hCG to have an accurate result.

It is rare to get a negative HPT result when you are indeed pregnant but it does happen if you test too early.

The accuracy of the screen depends upon whether or not you observed the directions, the day within your period that you take the test, the time of day when you take the test, and also the brand of examination you use. This is because some home pregnancy tests are more sensitive than others.

Is there a greater cause for joy and celebration than news of a pregnancy? After the parents-to-be find the confidence to share their surprise to family and friends, though, weeks and months of physical discomfort and emotional worry are sure to follow. What better way to calm their fears and help them prepare for their bouncing baby’s arrival than by holding a baby shower?

The baby shower is a time-honored tradition showing the joy loved ones have for the arriving family member. It’s also a great opportunity just to get together and enjoy each other’s company! Friends and family traditionally plan the baby shower for the mom-to-be while she readies herself for the birth. And as with many parties, not only is it a time for celebration, it’s also a time to give!

Gifts for the baby and mom are an integral part of baby showers. Especially so with first-time mothers, baby gifts ease the tremendous financial cost of having a child. This need creates a fantastic opportunity for many baby essentials to be given as presents:

* adorable onesies

* practical pajamas

* bibs in different colors

* burp cloths (always handy!)

* blankets

* diapers in different sizes

* baby wipes and towelettes

* baby shampoo

* baby lotion.

To make gift-giving a snap, why not suggest to the expectant mother that she register online? Many quality baby gift shops are satisfying their customers’ demands by making their registries available over the internet. Not only does this make choosing gifts a cinch for mom, it makes it a snap for her guests as well. And with gas prices at all-time highs, it’s not only good for the party, it’s great for the environment and the pocketbook!

Are you pressed for time but don’t have a registry, on- or off-line, to guide your buying decision? Let baby baskets come to the rescue! They come with many baby basics and must-haves included and can be purchased at many baby specialty stores. These baskets come in a wide range of sizes and price ranges to fit any budget. In fact, you can have them sent directly to the host’s home to keep things ultra-convenient.

If you are one of the thousands of women who decide they wants a tubal ligation reversal, you can’t go wrong with the Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center. Hundreds of thousands of women are told that tying their tubes is the best means of birth control each year and they have this surgery. Later, sometimes just a short time later, they begin to regret what they have done. Don’t fret,though, as with the CHTRC, you will have the best opportunity to reverse that procedure.

Unlike any other place you can name, tubal reversals are the only thing done at the center. You won’t have to worry about something else, like in vitro fertilization, being pushed on you. As an IVF is a more expensive procedure that usually requires more tries, you will find this is the procedure that will be presented as your best option whether it truly is or not. Not so at CHTRC.

It is Dr. Berger who has brought Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center to the forefront for tubal ligation reversals. No one can match his background and training within this field. He has had the opportunity to study under and observe Dr. Winston himself, the man who was the pioneer in microsurgical tubal reversal procedures. Put that background together with the sheer number of tubal reversals Dr. Berger has done and you have someone who cannot be matched. Dr. Berger performs these operations, and only these operations, four times a day, five days a week.

The surgical technologists are the ones who keep the operating room all to rights. They ensure the operating room works correctly, that everything is sterile as it should be and that the room itself is meticulous. You wouldn’t recognize them if you saw them because you will not usually see them. They are in the operating room with masks on so you can’t see their faces. Besides you will be asleep in the operating room. The first assistant has been on Dr. Berger’s staff and worked with him for eighteen years. Does your surgeon have the same staff after eighteen years?

Long term staff goes for the Director of Anesthesia at the center as well. Dr. Caryn Hertz has worked at the center since 1995 following her five year stint at Duke University Medical Center. That she worked at Duke and now works with the staff at Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal should show what a top notch doctor she is. Again, this long term association with the team will mean your surgery is in great hands. No wondering just how much experience the anesthesiologist that your luck of the draw at some hospital will pull up.

It’s the nurses at the center that you will make most contact with. They will be the ones you ask your questions of and who will see you through all the ropes that having a surgery like this entails. You will find that they add posts to the center blog answering some of the many questions that they get. You could not be in better hands than those of these caring and respectful ladies.

I’ve talked a bit about the staff. Another thing that should be considered is the message board mentioned in the last paragraph. How many other doctors or clinics allow you, even provide you with, a means of contacting other patients? You can ask questions there and find the support you need for whatever may concern you regarding having a reversal done.

And what other surgeon or center do you know of that follows up past the six week in office check up? At the Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center, they contact you at six months and again at one year after your reversal surgery. Dr. Berger and his staff have even had contact with some ladies years after their surgery when they needed advice on fertility issues. Using the information collected post operation and what was collected before, the center maintains a database that allows them to answer the question women will ask prior to their surgery – What are the success rates? You will know the statistics for this center specifically and not some general statistics for all doctors.

Every year in the U.S. alone hundreds of thousands of women are persuaded to undergo tubal ligation surgery. The number varies depending upon the source but of those women who do this, many will decide they want to reverse the surgery. The premiere place to do so is the Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center.

Maybe the best thing about the center is that tubal reversals are the only type of surgery done there. You won’t have to withstand any efforts by the staff or doctors to push you toward having an in vitro fertilization either which is a more expensive option and possibly less effective alternative. They do tubal reversals, period. Not vasectomy reversals and not IVF. As the tubal reversal surgery is all they do, you have an extremely well versed staff. They have the experience no one else does.

Perhaps what makes this center the premiere place begins with Dr. Gary Berger. No one has the education, training or medical background that Dr. Berger has in this specialized field. For more detailed information about his background, please check out the pages on drbergertubal.com. Add his background to the fact that tubal reversals are all he does and that he does them four times a day, five days a week, and you have experience that no one else can match.

Keeping the operating room and equipment operating at peak efficiency are the surgical technicians. They make sure everything works right and all is meticulous and sterile as it should be. These surgical technicians have been with the CHTRC for years. In fact, Dr. Berger’s first assistant has been with him for 18 years. That ought to give you a good feeling that she knows what she is doing and has seen it all. That is the caliber of the surgical staff.

Next we have Dr. Caryn Hertz who is the Director of Anesthesia at CHTRC. She, too, has been there for a long time. In her case, she has worked with Dr. Berger since 1995. This collaboration began after she left Duke University Medical Center to join Dr. Berger. I would guess the name of Duke alone should tell you the quality of the professional she is. Match that with her long term work with Dr. Berger, meaning she, too, knows this surgery inside and out and you have a winning team.

Looking at the nursing staff next will again show you the quality of the people who work at CHTRC. Some have been there long term as well. What really matters is how much they really care for the women who come to the center looking for a second chance at having a baby. Most likely it’s the nursing staff who will talk to you and answer your questions. You can even talk to them via the message board at forums.tubal-reversal.net.

Maybe what I should mention next is the message board that allows all the ladies who are thinking about having a tubal reversal talk to all the ones who have had the surgery. It forms the basis of a type of support group though it is not officially one. Not only that but you can get your questions answered there by the staff as well. Sometimes even Dr. Berger will drop in and answer questions. You will find the latest pregnancy announcements,too.

What about those follow-ups? What am I talking about? I’m talking about the fact that the staff at CHTRC will check in with you at least six times after your surgery. These include a check at six months post surgery and a final check at one year post surgery. I have never heard of a doctor or clinic that provides that kind of follow up. Have you? This is just another indication of the great staff and doctors at the Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center. You won’t find better care anywhere else.

A family can find out very quickly if there is a biological relationship between a child and an alleged father with a paternity test. Nowadays, paternity testing is used to decide custody cases, establish legitimate child support cases, influence adoption proceedings, and to aid in claiming inheritance by providing proof of relationship.

Paternity testing compares the child’s DNA pattern with that of the potential father, which is the most definitive proof known to exist. Three test options are available in paternity testing, these are: prenatal testing, viability test, and in-home testing.

Mothers who undergo prenatal paternity testing wish to determine the paternity even before the baby is born. You can choose amniocentesis or CVS (chronic villi sampling). Concerns that arise when having the amniocentesis are the risk of aborting the fetus, injury to the fetus and other risks. So, if you decide to go for a prenatal paternity test, it is best to discuss it with your physician or gynecologist beforehand to ensure that you are not in danger.

In cases where the father is missing, a viability test can help determine the paternity. The viability test involves testing material like preserved samples of hair or other body tissues.

If you simply want to know “discretely” who the father of a child is, then a home-conducted paternity test is for you. Do-it-yourself kits use the buccal swab to get the needed material, this swab placed into the mouth and performing a quick swipe of the inside of the cheek. Once the samples have been taken, they are sent to a lab for testing. The DNA material that was collected from the man in question as well as from the baby is then processed in the lab for possible matches. However, it must be kept in mind that the result derived from this process is not admissible in court.

It is possible to undergo a world of different types of DNA paternity testing, whether for personal or legal circumstances. People who do it for personal reasons usually wouldn’t want other people to know about it. Legal paternity tests can be used to settle adoption issues and settle child-support disputes.

There are only two possible outcomes after taking a paternity test. If the man’s DNA types do not match the child’s DNA, then he is excluded as the biological father. However, if the DNA types match, then the man is not excluded as the father.

Being identified as the father of a child can have serious and long lasting effects on the life of a man. So, it is important to weigh all of the potential outcomes of paternity testing before you decide to have it conducted. You can purchase a paternity testing kit online delivered safely and securely right to your front door for privacy.

Being a parent is one of the toughest jobs anyone may ever have. It is an ongoing process that teaches parents new things each day and leaves much more that needs to be learned before they become a good parent. There are various styles of parents, and each of them has it’s own style and characteristics. Basically, there are four styles of parenting namely: authoritarian, permissive, authoritative (also known as egalitarian), and uninvolved.

The authoritarian parenting style is high in structural boundaries and somewhat strict like the military in its execution. The parent’s responsiveness to their children is usually low to very low, rules are laid down and must be followed. In some cases, punishment meted out would be seen in today’s society as extremely, and unnecessarily heavy-handed.

The permissive/ indulgent parent is at the opposite end of the continuum. Permissive parents want to avoid conflict at all cost; their belief is that the best way to parent their children is to be their child’s best friend. There are only a very few rules and limits to the child, therefore, he or she will have very little discipline. This may cause problems in the future, as these children do not learn how to deal with rules and how to connect between wrongdoing and punishment.

Authoritative parenting is considered as the balanced style between authoritarian and permissive parents. Authoritative parents give their children a little leeway and choices up until a certain point. Although parents will listen to a child’s point of view, ultimately the final decision will rest with the adult.

In uninvolved parents, as the name suggests, parents are simply uninvolved. Parents are neither demanding nor responsive of their children and they are not interested in any feedback from them, they are the most likely to be irresponsible and more often neglect their children.

In parenting, there are basic things that every parent should know. These are: being kind to your children, being a good role model, and always keeping communication lines open. Parents should never put down or hurt their children’s feelings on purpose, no matter how mad they make you feel you should always work to control your temper. Being a good role model is also important, this means teaching your child how to be a good person all the time. The most important lesson that you will teach your kids is the difference between right and wrong. There is no parent better than one who is dedicated to communicating with his or her children well. Communicating does not even have to be too in depth, just talk to your kids about the important things.

Additionally, with the advance of technology and a culture that seems to cater to youth more and more, it can be a hard task for parents to shelter their children and one of the most common complaints that parents have today is that they aren’t able to control all of the information that their child is able get. Protecting minors from inappropriate material on the Internet and television is a parental control task that still has no perfect solutions, however parental controls software programs provide significant assistance to parents who want to keep their children safe.

Parenting is hard work and will certainly tax your emotions, but it is also one of the most rewarding things that any of us can do. The effort you put into bringing up your children with unconditional love, understanding and trust will invariably be repaid in a hundred different ways.

Among all the tubal reversal doctors that say they will do your tubal ligation reversal surgery, how do you know which is the right one to choose? In the rest of this article, I hope you will learn about some of the information you should ask any potential surgeon to find out if he or she will be right for you. After all, whether it is to have another child or for relief of post tubal ligation syndrome, you are putting so much of your future into this person’s hands. You want to make the right choice.

The first thing you want to know about is his knowledge of this type of surgery. What about his educational and training background? What schools did he or she attend? What training has he had? And who was he trained under? You have doctors who have done their medical school, internship training and normal residency and have never seen a tubal reversal done. Even doctors who specialized in reproductive endocrinology would be very lucky to see a tubal reversal during their training. Since most insurance doesn’t cover it, many hospitals don’t perform the surgery very often and this is where doctors do their residencies. So, has yours ever been trained in it? Has he even seen one done during his training?

Next we need to ask about his experience. How often has your potential doctor performed this surgery? Is it something she has done like maybe twelve times in the last five years? Or do you want a doctor who does the surgery every week day for years and has seen just about anything that can come up? Who do you think is going to be better at it and have the most experience to deal with your particular situation?

What techniques does your doctor use to insure to the best of his ability that your tubes will be open once the surgery is done? Does he just “eyeball” the alignment of the tubes and then do a dye test afterward to see if they are open? Or does he use a stint to line up the tubes to be sure they are open even before he begins suturing the tubes together? You need to think if you want to take a chance on paying for the surgery and not even being sure the job gets done correctly. How invasive will his surgery technique be into your body? How large are the cuts he will make?

How about his communications? Does he provide lines of communication to answer all your questions? How easy is it to talk to him or his staff? Do you feel you are being heard and listened to? Can you get into contact with any of his previous tubal reversal patients to get a recommendation? What do others, including his patients, say about him?

Another factor to consider, which for many women will be the first factor to consider, is the cost of the operation. Just how much will that do-it-once-a-year surgeon cost you? $20,000? $10,000? I wonder. Is he trying to make up for doing so few with that price? In this case, you may just find that the best surgeon is not the one who will cost you the most. In fact, he may even be one of the least costly out there.

Does your doctor keep statistics that prove how well he does his job? Does he let you know what your chances are given your tube length, age, and type of tubal ligation done? Do you know his tubal reversal success rates? Do you know the rates of pregnancy after a tubal reversal from this doctor? Are these published and readily available to you? Does your doctor do follow-ups to collect information at six months and at one year intervals after your tubal reversal surgery?

The above factors will give you a good start to narrowing down that list of tubal reversal doctors. They will help you pick the one surgeon who will give you the best chance to achieve your purpose in having this procedure done. Sure, there are more things to consider including information about the surgical facility but these will give you a good start.
