A marriage can be ruined by many kinds of secrets.

I am going to talk about financial secrets in part one of this series.

Many people keep financial secrets, according to author and radio host, Dave Ramsey. Those secrets can be a sign of or cause problems within a marriage.

Smaller items don’t compare to finding out your spouse has accumulated a $50,000 credit card debt, but it does signify a lack of communication and cooperation in a marriage.

Having control of one’s finances is important. Often, if one spouse feels they are in an out-of-control financial environment, they will often spend money to “rebel”.

Giving money to a child without telling their spouse is one way many people keep financial secrets. In addition, a divorced parent in a blended family sometimes will try to protect the child from an ‘evil stepmother’ or stepfather by handing out money.

Getting to the bottom of the reason why the financial secret exists is critical to begin solving the problem. It’s also important to discuss the mistake with your partner. Being honest will clear the air and allow the healing process to begin.

Revealing your secrets and confessions online anonymously is a great first start, especially if you aren’t yet ready to confront your spouse with the truth. Owning up to your mistake, although hard, is the only way you will be able to begin to understand your motivation for your past actions. Free yourself by revealing your mistake and you will not be disappointed. Digging deeply into yourself and shining the light on your inner truths is the best way to reach inner peace and happiness.
