Keeping intimacy secrets can erode a relationship over time, especially a marriage.

Obvious actions like infidelity can ruin a marriage, but what about lesser actions like emotional infidelity or “harmless flirtation”?

Is flirting with a co-worker significant enough to warrant telling your spouse about it, particularly if you know that it will never be acted on?

What is emotional infidelity? A common definition says emotional infidelity occurs when an intense romantic bond occurs with a person other than the spouse. And how far can one go before their spouse is being cheated on?

Consider the reason why you are keeping this information from your spouse. Ask yourself if your actions are best for both you and your significant other.

What would your spouse say if you told them?

Is keeping this information to yourself helping to enhance your relationship? Ask yourself these deeper questions.

Being honest with yourself about what is acceptable within your relationship is important in respecting your significant other. Revealing your true intent to yourself is key to understanding whether or not you have a potential relationship issue. Don’t be afraid to shine light on your inner workings. If you transform your mind, you will transform yourself.
