Many times when people start planning vacations, they dream of many things. However, many people have images of pitons, ropes, and other gear when they see rocks! Therefore, many people spend their holiday climbing rocks!

What a climber wears during climbing is the most important thing he/she can do! In fact, during climbing clothes are not meant to be stylish, they are to be protective. When it comes to climbing clothes, it starts form the skin. By that, in rock climbing it is essential to have good “breathing” clothes that allow the sweat to move outward and to let air to flow. The bottom layer is usually thermal clothing.

The second layer is more for movement. You definitely not want a shirt that is constricting as it may become annoying and a hazard. Most often vests or jackets are preferred for the outer layer. You must remember that keeping the elbows, shoulders, and wrists free is very critical. The outer layer pants can also be in different forms, as well. In fact, some climbers prefer to wear shorts. There are also different types of shorts for different climbs, as well! Some of the shorts are just as ordinary as the ones you would wear to the beach; if not more! No matter what, good climbing shorts should have the ability to stretch without sticking. Also, they will be very durable and be able to go through a lot! Pants also must have that same quality; being tough and durable. Most importantly, the knees have to be strong and flexible. Many pants are now insulated and waterproof, as well.

Alike other clothing, there are many different types of jackets, as well. In fact, they make jackets to do everything from keeping cold winds off, to protecting from damaging sun rays, to keeping you dry. If not properly dressed, you may get life-threatening viruses.

One of the most important items to a climber is the helmet. However, if you fall from a great distant no helmet will save you; but for the smaller ones it will make a considerable difference! Not only that, but it is very common to have rock fragments to fall upon you when climbing the rocks! This is true if you’re climbing the Alps or in Tuscany. The bottom layer is usually thermal clothing.

When planning your vacation, it is crucial that you think of every accommodation that you need. Even if you have to make a list, it will be well worth it; even life saving!

We just came back from a cruise vacation with our nine month old daughter. We had a great time on the trip. We did a lot of things very well which contributed to the success of the trip, and there a few things that we will do different the next time so that our next trip will be even more spectacular.

I thought it would be beneficial to other travellers planning a cruise with a young baby to read about our typical day on a cruise ship.

First of all it was great that Princess Cruise Line provided us with a very nice playpen for our daughter to sleep in. Our daughter is a good sleeper – so every day she would sleep until about 7 o’clock. We would take her out of her playpen, change her diaper, and bring her into bed with us for some family play and snuggle time.

After the family play time we would wash our daughter up, change her into some dry clothes and then my husband would put our daughter into our stroller (we brought one with us – don’t leave home without one) and take her for a walk on one of the outside deck – either one of the top decks or the promenade deck. While they were gone – for 45 minutes or so – I would hop into the shower, get dressed, pack the diaper bag for the day and tidy up the cabin a bit. When they returned my husband would have his shower and get ready for the morning.

The three of us would than meet at the buffet area of the ship for breakfast. One of us would put our girl into a high chair (again provided by the cruise ship) and the other would go to the buffet to get breakfast.

After breakfast we headed back to our cabin to change into bathing suits and off we would go to the kiddies pool. On our ship young babies are allowed in the kiddies pool if they are wearing a swim diaper.

After swimming it was nap time for our girl. Either my husband or I would stay in the cabin while she slept and the other one of us would go off and have some solitude time. It was very important to us that the child-care responsibilities be shared equally – so we made a point of taking turns staying with our daughter during her nap periods.

When our daughter woke up for her nap we would put her into the stroller and the three of us would walk around the ship together. Back to the buffet for lunch together – more exploring – maybe some more swimming – and eventually it was afternoon nap time.

For dinner we always went to the formal dining room. It was the highlight of the day. We would all get dressed up for dinner, and would head off for a pre-dinner cocktail at about 5:30 and then go for dinner at about 6:00 p.m. Every dinner was spectacular and the service from the dining room staff was excellent. All the staff loved talking to our daughter.

On our way to dinner we would do a quick detour to the buffet area and pick up some melon pieces to take to the dining room for our daughter to snack on during dinner.

Once in the dining room my husband and I would order our dinner (the food on Princess is soooo good) and our little girl would eat some of her fruit. We also gave her some small pieces of bread and some other snacks like Yum Yums (that we brought with us).

At some point during dinner our daughter would be ready for her dinner. Before we left to go on the cruise (about a month before) I had pre-ordered baby food from Princess. At dinner when she was ready to eat I fed her a jar of baby food and some cereal mixed with water. When we were all finished eating our little family would sit and relax and enjoy being together as our daughter had her bottle.

When we left the dining room we would head back to our room. It was time for her evening bath – since our room did not have a bathtub (it only had a shower) – we plugged the shower drain and ran some water into the shower making it plenty deep enough for our daughter’s bath.

Being out and about during the evening is one of the great fun things to do on a cruise ship – and we didn`t want to miss out. So, every evening after our daughter`s bath time we put her in her sleepers and settled her into her stroller and off we would go to a show, to see a comedian, listen to some music, or just walk the ship. It was fantastic.

Our daughter would laugh and smile at all the people and the excitement that surrounded her – but it wasn`t long – maybe 30 or 40 minutes before she would fall asleep in her stroller. We adjusted the stroller seat so that she was reclining as she slept.

With our daughter now fast asleep in her stroller my husband and I would continue doing things until we were ready to call it a day. We would back to our cabin, tuck our daughter into her playpen for the night, and then tuck ourselves into bed as well.

Cruising with a young baby is wonderful (at least in our experience) – it does take some advanced planning. It is a wonderful way to have a stress-free vacation, enjoy our daughter and enjoy being a family.

Have you ever thought about how crazy people get during the holiday season? People are rushing to find presents and to wrap them and to bake traditional Christmas goodies as well as go to parties and entertain others. Every year I listen to people complaining that time is going so fast and that they do not have everything done that they wanted done. They complain about the number of people at the mall and how hard it is to find parking and that they are maxing out their credit limits. I do not understand why people feel a need to put off all the things that go with preparing for a holiday until the last minute. I do my Christmas shopping year round.

It is completely understandable that there are situations where a gift giver does not want to spend much money on a gift, whether it be because of an occasion like an office gift exchange where you don’t know the recipient that well, or because of overall finances for all gifts for the year. We have all been in a situation where we have wanted to give a relatively cheap Christmas gift and have ended up frustrated beyond belief because we haven’t been able to find something that didn’t look like it cost five dollars.

I will never forget one snowy Christmas morning when I was about 13 years old. There were several Christmas presents under the tree that were not there the night before. Naturally I wondered where they came from and had to inspect a little closer. I spotted the tag on all of them and it appeared they were from my stepbrother. He had went out and purchased a real gift for everyone in our family. This was naturally an utter shock since he was only 17 years old. Why all of the sudden did he want to buy gifts for everyone?

Everyone always appreciates homemade goodies during the holiday season as well. Make up a batch of spiced nuts, chocolate covered pretzels or your best banana bread and package it in a gift box with some raffia and the recipient will think it looks like it came from a specialty bakery, but with the great taste of something homemade.

I keep a list of everyone we buy for. If I found cheap Christmas presents for the person I cross their name off so when it is closer to the season I will remember who I still need to shop for. I keep the list in the closet with the gifts so I know where it is. I have to admit that there are times when I do get surprised at what is in the closet. The things that were bought in January of February get forgotten as time passes.

What Holiday Symbol is GREEN and making you sneeze? Your Christmas Tree could be the answer.

A live Christmas tree could be the culprit behind some folks runny, itchy noses reports Linda Shrieves in an article published in the Orlando Sentinel.

In the article a Connecticut allergy specialist, Dr.John Santilli states; I’ve been in practice for over 30 years and every year between Christmas and New Year’s we have everybody come in with recurring sinus infections.

Dr. Santilli placed a live Christmas tree inside an intern’s apartment and took air samples for two weeks. (Santilli keeps his Christmas tree on a porch until Christmas Eve.) For the first three days, the mold counts inside the apartment hovered around 800 spores per cubic meter of air, compared with a normal range of 500 to 700 spores per cubic meter. But by day 14, the mold count had skyrocketed to 5,000 spores per cubic meter. “The longer you keep the tree up, the worse it gets,” said Santilli, who presented his study at a recent national meeting of the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology in Dallas. Determined to prove his point by the second week, the tree was putting out a bucket of spores. That’s when it gets to be a problem, especially if you have asthma or are prone to sinus infections.”

Santilli says the dead tree begins decaying shortly after it’s cut. Though most of us don’t associate mold with Christmas trees, “Mother Nature’s cleanup crew is the mold, he said. “The molds take over and start decaying it.”

Although the medical community has long known about “Christmas tree allergy,” there has been some debate over what causes the sneezing, runny noses and watery eyes: pollen or mold.

Canadian researchers interviewed 1,657 allergy patients in 1969 and theorized that as many as 7 percent of people with allergies also may be allergic to their Christmas trees.

That team suspected the culprits were pollens that stuck to the Christmas tree and balsam resins. Santilli, on the other hand, thinks his new research proves that mold may be the biggest problem.

A Minnesota based company markets an EPA approved GREEN Mold and Mildew preventer called Vital Oxide. Vital Oxide is completely odorless, and is water based. This is a perfect product to use to keep the mold problem at bay states Tom Heller, managing partner of WorldWide Oxide, the distributor of the EPA approved GREEN Vital Oxide. Do you need some Christmas party ideas that wont blow your holiday budget? Having a Christmas party is one of the best ways to spend time with loved ones during the holiday season. However, sticking within your holiday budget is important. There are many creative ways that you can celebrate so that you can enjoy the holidays without stretching your budget too thin. These Christmas party ideas will help you plan a great holiday party without breaking the bank.

The first thing you should do is plan the guest list. If you are inviting a lot of people, then you should ask them to RSVP, so that you won’t waste money buying too much food and party supplies. Send your invitations at least two weeks in advance, so that you will know how many people to expect.

One of the best frugal Christmas party ideas is to email invites to those who have internet access, saving traditional invitations for anyone who can’t be contacted via email. If you don’t hear back from your guests, then just give them a call a few days before the party to get a final head count.

A Christmas party is one of the places where you will expect great food, but when you are trying to be frugal you can try something different than a traditional meal, especially if you have a lot of people coming over. One of the traditional Christmas party ideas is to have a potluck, where each member of the group brings a different dish to pass.

If you want to prepare all of the food yourself, then there are other ways to stick within a budget. If you are planning your party for a weekend, then you can always serve lunch, where you can serve finger foods and drinks for much less than you could a dinner. finger sandwiches with cut up vegetables and dip and perhaps a cheese tray and assorted cookies are all excellent choices for a lunch party.

Other Christmas party ideas focus around a healthier menu such as fruits and fresh veggies for a nice change of pace from traditional, high calorie party foods. While you may be tempted to buy fruit and veggie trays from your deli, you will save a lot money if you make up your own.

If you are having Christmas party with children, then you can be creative without spending a lot of money on entertainment. For kids, one of the best Christmas party ideas is to set up a small crafts table, where the little ones can make something festive to take home.

You can stock the table with craft items such as, crayons, white and construction paper, child safe scissors, glitter and glue. It would probably be best to stay away from paints unless you want to spend a little time cleaning the mess, not to mention having to worry about the kids getting paint on their clothes. Even some of the crafty adults will probably want to join in!

If you plan on exchanging presents, but want to keep the costs down, then you may want to draw names or set a cap on the costs of a gift. Gift giving Christmas party ideas such as drawing names or party games such as Secret Santa are a good way to save money.

Barcelona is one of the great architectural Meccas of the world. One only has to stroll through the streets of the Barri Gtic (Gothic Quarter), to encounter some of the world’s finest Gothic buildings, arresting structures left over from the golden age of Catalonia. Yet it is the 19th century figure, Antonio Gaudi, who is considered the patron saint of great Barcelonan architecture. Much of the landscape of Barcelona has been touched and transformed by Gaudi’s genius.

The Temple of the Holy Family is the perfect example of the kind of halting impression the master architect has left on the city. In 1883, Gaudi began to work on the Temple of the Holy Family, however due to his untimely death by a tram accident in 1926, this masterpiece of late 19th century architecture was left unfinished. Today, the Temple of the Holy Family remains a poignant monument to the great architect’s passion, standing almost as tall as the neighboring mountain of Montjuic. Not surprisingly, the magnificent structure is considered one of the great man-made wonders of Barcelona. Although over 120 years have elapsed since Gaudi’s death, construction on the cathedral still continues and is expected to proceed for at least another 40 years.

The exterior of the Temple is in itself the picture of divine inspiration. A series of towering, awe-inspiring spires surround the narrow portal of the entranceway. These same spires were the inspiration for the celebrated Petronas Towers, designed by the influential, living architect, Cesar Pelli.

As if the spires weren’t enough, Gaudi had the facade of the building decorated by hundreds of small friezes. These frieze decorations are remarkable for their depictions of saintly figures and ordinary people alike, but perhaps most remarkable of all, is the extremely modern style of the bas-reliefs. Gaudi’s architecture is often distinctly cubist in nature, testifying to the fact that the architect’s work was often way ahead of its time. The facades of the Temple of the Holy Family would have been unlike anything known in Gaudi’s time.

The walls of the church are relieved by many narrow, high-arched windows, which filter softly glowing light into the building’s interior. Higher up, the eye is automatically drawn to the narrow spire lights, which offer surreal glimpses of the sky above.

Entering the Cathedral is an even more surreal experience. Elegant fluted Greek columns soar wondrously toward the ceiling, where the capitals branch out in the forms of trees. At the top, the columns are linked, canopy-style, by a breathtaking vaulted ceiling design of life-like stone flowers.

The three portals of the temple contain larger-than-life stone sculptures depicting different scenes of the life of Jesus. The Portal of Charity is well known for its central column, which is remarkable for it intricate frieze depiction of the complete genealogy of Christ. At the base of the central column, the story of the serpent in the garden is easily visible and above the central column are the Annunciation and the story of the birth of Jesus. The Portal of Faith contains scenes of the Jesus preaching as a youth, and the surrounding stonework is replete with religious iconography, such as grapes and wheat. On the other side, the Portal of Hope depicts the flora and fauna of the Nile, the marriage of Mary and Joseph, the slaughter of the innocents, and many other standard and non-standard biblical scenes.

On the ground floor of the temple, one can view several reconstructed models of the Temple of the Holy Family as laid out in Gaudi’s original plans. The original plans were destroyed by a fire shortly after Gaudi’s death. One can also view photographic exhibits of the construction work done on the temple over the decades, as well as photos of Antonio Gaudi’s funeral.

Visiting the temple often means dedicating an entire day to absorbing the sweeping immensity and endless details of the mind-boggling design. In a city celebrated for its stunning works of architecture, The Temple of the Holy Family is easily the most famous landmark of all, and more than well worth the visit.

When you are on the hunt for your baby’s first Christmas stocking you will probably find a ton of options. Choosing a baby stocking that is a real keepsake is a little more challenging. In order to make sure that you invest in the right item for your baby’s first Christmas stocking try a little browsing before buying.

Almost any place that you will find assorted decorations will sell a Baby’s First Christmas ornament. They have pink ones for girls, blue for boys, animals, religious – anything you could want. My daughter was six months old when she celebrated her first Christmas with our family and I cannot tell you how many people got us a Baby’s First Christmas ornament as a keepsake. Each one that I received was different and I loved them all. My absolute favorite one was a little star that allowed for you to put a tiny photo inside of it. The year was on it and her name had been engraved. Tears came to my eyes when I saw that particular Baby’s First Christmas ornament sitting in a gift bag.

Some items can be personalized with a message or the baby’s name. There are My First Christmas Baby Blankets available in addition to teddy bears wearing T-shirts with Father Christmas printed on. Some teddy bears sing a song or play a tune. A Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer is another themed baby Christmas gift.

My First Christmas Keepsake boxes are great for storing cards and other family mementoes. There are also boxes to keep baby’s first hair curl or tooth. Baby can have his or her own stocking with their name on it. Pewter mugs and breakfast and dinner crockery sets are popular too. Sterling silver keepsake spoons or photograph albums or photograph frames are another baby Christmas gift idea. Relatives or friends may want to buy baby a bible or scripture book.

I went to a baby shower once that had Baby’s First Christmas as the theme. The mom-to-be’s due date was on Christmas day, so she had quite a few people get her a Baby’s First Christmas ornament. No matter what time of the year a baby shower is held, a Baby’s First Christmas ornament is always a great idea. It is something that is full of meaning and will always bring back happy memories.

We’ve all gotten a terrible cheap Christmas gift that is clearly something that was picked up at the last minute without any thought, and obvious that the giver did not spend much money. The situation was even portrayed on the NBC television show “The Office”, where in an office gift exchange a giver gave the ultimate cheap Christmas gift ? a used flannel shirt that was the wrong size for the recipient. It was later told that it was just grabbed from the givers own closet that very morning of the exchange.

However, there is one aspect of Christmas that tends to put a damper on things. I am referring to all the spending. Naturally when the holiday season rears its head, there will be much spending to do. Are you ready to go out and purchase all of those Christmas gifts for your family and friends? No doubt they can get a bit pricey at times. Maybe this year you need some cheap Christmas presents to pass out.

Of course when giving a cheap Christmas gift, it is usually helpful to know the recipient. In those cases you can usually know of something that is under ten dollars that they really would want and use, whether it be their favorite scented lotion or a box of their favorite golf balls. Giving a cheap Christmas gift is not the easiest task in the world, but when done with caution it can turn out fabulously!
