This figure is not surprising when people hire expensive limousines, florists, caterers and stationery, not to mention the cost of outfits for the day; you can still have a wonderful day even though it might be a cheap wedding although you might not be convinced yet! However, sometimes all that is needed is some help with the planning to help lower that total; which should make for an exciting, memorable day without the financial pain.
Cheap Hand Made Gown
The wedding dress is one area where huge amounts of money are spent; this is something that will only ever be worn once so a previously owned dress is worth consideration. The huge cost of a new wedding dress cannot always be justified these days; many bridal shops carry a large number of previously owned dresses that can be hired or bought for considerably less than new.
The Wedding Reception
The largest single cost is that of the wedding reception but even here savings are possible; with an average of just under two hundred guests attending it is easy to see how you can reduce the financial burden for your cheap wedding. Reducing the number of people who attend, including distant relatives or friends you haven’t been in contact with for years, will help enormously; you can even carry out some of the catering yourself and have a hot and cold buffet style meal instead of a four courses.
Other cost reductions can be made in where the wedding reception is held; it could take place in a friend’s house or a local club where money could be saved on beverages if they are supplied directly.
Wedding Photographs and Photographers
Although many photographers are employed for the entire day, this isn’t really necessary; the majority of guests are more than happy to take photos on behalf of the couple, and they will be ‘natural’ shots as well! If you really want to be ‘avant guard’, why pay for a photographer at all; these days most people know someone who is a keen, capable amateur photographer, and there is nothing wrong with asking them to take photos throughout the whole day.

It is also easy to save money on your wedding by designing and printing all your own stationery; with a good computer program and a home printer it is amazing how professional the results are these days. The quality of printers available combined with sophisticated programs means it is quite easy to do; in fact very professional looking results can be achieved on a home computer.
The Wedding Flowers
Flowers can be another expensive outlay especially with the alternatives on offer; why not buy wholesale flowers, or pick flowers from your garden and buy plain gold or white gold bands as these are the least costly. Many people have friends who are very capable cooks and love to bake so why not let them bake a two or three tier wedding cake; this can be made from sponge or even a chocolate cake which tends to be favorite amongst people these days.
The Transportation
It is not uncommon for someone close who has a luxury car to offer a couple the use of it for the day; cleaned, polished and decorated with ribbons, it can look really impressive ad save a bundle on limousine costs.
It is possible to plan a cheap wedding without necessarily cutting back on the services; you can save money and have a great wedding at the same time!
